:(

Xanga got fugly. I tried, but I just can't handle the new look. And I REALLY can't handle that stupid ad on the side of my page, RIGHT NEXT to my posts. I can barely take MYSELF seriously when my supposedly well-considered words are plastered next such garbage.

Good job, Xanga. You finally got so close to Myspace that you drove off all the users who used to enjoy your site because it isn't Myspace.

You may now find my largely irrelevant posts at http://bigtommyg.blogspot.com

Please do. Otherwise I'll get awfully lonely.

Have a nice day.

Deadlock 2008: A Declaration

Since Dr. Paul has officially decided to return to Congress to fight for liberty in the trenches, I am making the following declaration for the 2008 Presidential election. You are all free to join me.

ON THIS DAY OF OUR LORD, THE TWELFTH OF FEBRUARY, TWO-THOUSAND AND EIGHT

WHEREAS despite the fact that both play to some non-existent middle, our fellow Americans refuse to cast off the shackles of the alleged "two-party system";

WHEREAS no third party presiential candidate is likely to gain substantial or meaningful traction with the American populace in the 2008 election;

WHEREAS the remaining candidates for the two major parties' presidential nominations espouse essentially the same policy ideas and philosophy of government;

WHEREAS that philosophy of government will only serve to increase our deficits, decrease our standard of living, suppress our economy, oppress our families and neighbors, and generally offend our moral sensibilities as educated and informed voters;

WHEREAS consensus between the Executive and the Legislature naturally leads neither to exercise the necessary checks and balances that protect the American people from the monstrous hubris of runaway government;

WHEREAS the only pauses in the erosion of our democracy and civil liberties in the past century have occurred when Republicans and Democrats are fighting over whose country club is best;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED:

1. That the members of this group shall exercise their due diligence in watching the most genuinely contested Senate and House races to be decided in November 2008;

2. That by such due diligence, each member of this group shall come to a logical conclusion about which major party will have the most seats in Congress after the November 2008 elections, and;

3. That regardless of our political preferences, each member of this group shall cast his or her vote for the presidential candidate of the party that does NOT control the Congress.

Who's with me?

Have a nice day.

Shame On You, Tennessee

Shame on you for falling for Huckabee's false prophet mythology and throwing him 21 of our delegates. Those of you who bought into his "God-called-and-said-vote-for-me" act have committed a blight against your state and against Christianity. For months now I've been trying to defend the south among my non-southern friends by saying that we don't fall for the sort of tee-totalling preacher talk that Huckabee throws out there anymore, that there are more true and honest Christians down here who can spot a heretic when they see one. Apparently 188,034 people in Tennessee and an equivalent number in every other Southern state really ARE that stereotypical. Maybe you should just buy a banjo and some overalls and wait for Burt Reynolds and his buddies to come floatin' down the river, because the way you raped Christians' image tonight would make most people squeal like a pig.

Shame on you Vagina Voters for putting Hillary Clinton 34 delegates closer to the Democratic nomination. You're helping to confirm that your party is exactly the same as the Republicans: blind to policy, obsessed with image, and convinced that demographics matter more than policy even if it means nominating a woman with the EXACT same ideology as the president you supposedly hate. Enjoy four more years of war if she wins.

Way to set both Christians and women back in substantial, hypocritical ways all in one night, Tennessee.

Have a nice day.
